Project Overview

ArtGuru redefines the standard in terms of services for museums. It's an audio guide, for your smartphone and the first ever for Google Glass. It's based on image recognition, and uses artificial intelligence in order to provide adaptive content to the visitor. It can learn his tastes, and provide that insight to the museum, letting them understand who their visitors are and what they like. ArtGuru allows also museum to get in touch with their visitors, even after they've left the building, and promote their merchandising, publications and new events.

Project Brief

More than 20% of total revenues for the Metropolitan Museum of Art /NYC) come from merchandising & gift shop, second only to donations and almost a double of tickets income. But once the visitor has left the building, there's no way for the museum to reach him. ArtGuru provides that chance, combining it with an astonishing audioguide system.
ArtGuru is precisely what you would expect from an audio guide today: it installs in your smartphone or Google Glass, and then you just have to point your camera towards the artwork, in order to get all the information, in milliseconds, even without internet. Besides that, our guide provides also dynamic content, indoor navigation, tours or sharing on the social networks? Thanks to our online Content Management System, museums can customize the app, including adding new artworks or modify the content: write your text, hit the publish button and we will broadcast it to all your visitors.
ArtGuru keeps track of every action a user does: how much time he spent looking at a certain artwork, who was he with or how many times he pushed the like button and we can provide that precise analytics to our museums.
All that information means understanding user tastes and their profiles: in brief, the big data for the world of art. ArtGuru will become the marketing platform for the future: it will allow museums to target potential visitors by their tastes or their geographic location, and push-notify them events or new products.

Project Need

Many reasons:
1) Image recognition technology ported into the phone itself. This means a very small package to download and no internet connection required during the visit. An iPhone 4 can match a photo among more than 3.000 in milliseconds.
2) Text-to-speech allows ArtGuru packages to be extremely small (the whole Louvre collection, for example, is less than 25 MBytes) and to easily support multilanguage
3) Our Content Management System allows museums to live edit their collection, upload new artworks, include more descriptions, and see the content live-broadcasted to every guide. This means that supporting temporary exhibisions, for example, has finally become a reality.
4) ArtGuru is the first audio guide ever available for Google Glass!

User Experience

The way ArtGuru works is the easiest possible: just point your camera towards the artwork in order to get the information. No infrastructure needed, no ugly QR codes to scan, no numbers to digit. Just the art. Museums visitors love it.

Project Marketing

Our customers are museums which want to
1) monitor their collection
2) understand their visitors tastes
3) market their activities & products
4) provide an awesome experience with our audio guide system

We provide a demo application, downloadable from http://artguru.me/demo and a demo account on our CMS at http://cms.artguru.me

Customers can try our audio guide and also modify the content. When they're done, they can sign up for the beta testing. Our commercial program is based on a pure revenue share on sellings, so there's no investiment required by the museum. In other words, ArtGuru is a revenue instead of a cost.

Project Privacy

We don't communicate users data to the museum. They'll only be allowed to inspect aggregate data.
