Project Brief
The MUBI project was all about creating a user friendly android app for film lovers to access independent, critically acclaimed art house films.
Each day MUBI experts introduce a new film and give users the chance to watch it for the next 30 days, there are 30 films available for viewing.
Project Need
The MUBI project was a chance to show off the Android platform with a simple but engaging experience. We used the latest Android interaction concepts and best practice in design to build a simple, engaging application. Novoda added some additional features to the android application including Android's daydream interactive screensaver mode, which appears automatically with images of available films available on Mubi when the mobile device is docked or on charge.
Novoda's app delivers the following capabilities
- Supports both portrait and landscape modes for a beautiful immersive movie browsing experience
-Online movie streaming and downloads for offline viewing on personal devices.
- Ability to start a film on one device and all other devices automatically remembers where the user left off.
User Experience
The Android Mubi app allows cinephines to watch, discover and chat about cinema on different mobile devices. The platforms enables users to connect with a global community of people that share similar tastes in movies and to discuss the films they love.

Film lovers can easily scroll through the selection of 30 independent, classic and critically acclaimed films available for online streaming, the high quality of the interface is brilliant for watching films and the MUBI android app is stunningly easy to use.
