Project Brief

Having spent years in the exercise and fitness industry, using and reviewing countless fitness apps; the team wanted to create something that was easy to use, engaging and would actually motivate the user to get active.

Cloudtag’s aim is to create a mobile app that uses gamification techniques to reward users for achieving their personal fitness goals, thus providing motivation to take part in exercise workouts and programmes.

MyCloudtag considers:
The psychology of why people don’t exercise enough and move more;
The ways in which computer games motivate people to progress;
The importance of workouts and programmes that deliver results;
The importance of world class teaching and instruction and puts the user at the centre.

World-class trainers lead by Matt Roberts in London; based on their years of working with clients around the world; have designed exercise programmes to deliver results.

MyCloudtag utilises an interface designed by computer game developers; the guys that developed games such as Golden Eye and Donkey Kong Country and the avatar interface for XboxKinect. It uses gamification techniques to reward progress and achievement - when you work through a workout you earn stars; when you finish a workout or programme you can earn more. You can unlock new programmes with stars rather than cash, allowing the user to pay with effort and not cash.

MyCloudtag is your exercise companion in your pocket.

Project Need

MyCloudtag has the lofty ambition to encourage everyone to be a better version of themselves.

We hear on the news almost daily about the benefits of activity to health and self-esteem; and the negative impact of low levels of activity. Motivation and staying power is key to a more active and healthy lifestyle, when many spend more time on games and watching TV than being active.

MyCloudtag is designed to address these issues.

MyCloudtag:
Brings gaming DNA by orienting how people interact with the app;
Rewards users directly by giving ‘stars’ for completed workouts and programmes;
Programmes are set up as journeys that need to be completed to get the next level;
Levels give points that can be used to unlock additional content, videos, instruction and harder programmes.

Motivation is key; effort is rewarded, if you work hard, everything is free!

User Experience

Users sign up using email or facebook. MyCloudtag does not require a long list of personal data to get started – the process is quick and simple.

MyCloudtag is goal oriented. It allows users to auto-calendar their workouts and track progress. Current programming includes exercises that promote weight loss and general fitness, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and programming for specific health challenges like back pain with more to come!

The app is designed for ease of use, for one hand holding and easy one finger scrolling.

As users can earn stars they can choose to unlock content and pay in effort not cash. This subverts the usual fitness app model of paying for upgrades. The more you workout, the more premium content you can unlock.

MyCloudtag guides the user through each workout.

Guided programmes can be done in the gym or at home (with options both with and without equipment) from a current list of four categories: Weight Loss, General Fitness, High Intensity and Well-being. Each workout features videos illustrating each exercise so users have the best possible chance of achieving the results they are seeking through use of proper technique.

The user can personalise music, voice-overs and adjust breaks to increase intensity.

Social media feeds can be read whilst in the workout; so life can continue whilst working out.

Project Marketing

The first stage of marketing the app is to engage with tech and fitness professionals and influencers in order to generate downloads via referrals and word-of-mouth.

Social media channels such as twitter and youtube to be used in the initial stages before a more strategic PR and marketing plan is rolled out in the coming months.

The digital marketing plan is currently being written.

Project Privacy

User Accounts and user data is all encrypted with 128bit AES encryption on the device and user account details (passcodes) are stored also with 128bit AES encryption on our Amazon server. This is the same level of security as is typically present during online credit card transactions and is very secure indeed.

There are deliberately no features in the app that allow users to share fitness information or body metrics – and the application does not transmit any of this information to the connected social media services at all.

Applicable to all Apps themed around fitness, nutrition and diet including services, instructional, trackers, counters, guides and workouts.
